Take-profit
Also known as: TP, target
A take-profit is a predefined order that closes a position once price reaches a profit target.
Set against the stop-loss distance, it defines the trade's risk-reward ratio. Targets are often placed at structural levels, prior highs/lows or a fixed multiple of risk. Automating the take-profit removes the temptation to exit early or hold too long.
