Short selling
Also known as: shorting, going short
Short selling is profiting from a falling price by selling a borrowed asset and buying it back later at a lower price.
A short position gains when price drops and loses when it rises. In derivatives and crypto perpetuals you can go short directly without borrowing. Losses on a short are theoretically unlimited if price keeps rising, so risk control is vital.
