Trend following

TRIX Trend

Low-noise momentum entries from the triple-smoothed TRIX.

TRIX triple-smooths price to cut noise, so its crossovers give cleaner momentum signals than faster oscillators. A TRIX trend strategy enters on the signal-line or zero-line crossover in the trend direction.

How it works

Because the underlying average is smoothed three times, TRIX produces fewer whipsaws. A cross above zero (or above its signal line) marks bullish momentum; below, bearish. Pairing it with a longer trend filter keeps entries aligned with the bigger picture.

Entry rules

  • ▸Go long when TRIX crosses above its signal line (or zero) in an uptrend.
  • ▸Reverse for shorts.
  • ▸Optionally require a higher-timeframe trend filter.

Exit & risk

  • ▸Exit on the opposite TRIX crossover.
  • ▸Cap risk with an ATR-based stop.
  • ▸Trail to ride extended trends.

Best for

Trending markets where its smoothing shines. In tight ranges even TRIX can whipsaw, so a trend filter helps.
