Momentum nodes
21 Momentum building blocks in the Algovex node library. Each is a node you can drop on the visual canvas, connect into a strategy, backtest and export. No code required.
A/D Line
Accumulation/Distribution Line — cumulative volume-based indicator measuring money flow. Rising A/D Line with rising price confirms accumulation; falling A/D Line with rising price warns of distribution. Use as a trend confirmation filter or divergence detector.
ADX
Average Directional Index measuring trend strength on a 0-100 scale regardless of direction. ADX above 25 indicates a trending market; below 20 indicates range-bound conditions. Use as a regime filter to activate trend-following strategies in strong trends and mean-reversion strategies in ranges.
Aroon
Aroon indicator measuring how many periods since the highest high (Aroon Up) and lowest low (Aroon Down), scaled 0-100. Aroon Up near 100 means a recent new high; crossovers signal trend changes. Use as an early trend-detection filter or to confirm breakouts when Aroon Up/Down diverge strongly.
Balance of Power
BOP = (Close-Open)/(High-Low) smoothed with SMA. Measures the strength of buyers vs sellers, ranging roughly -1 to +1. Optional signal line for crossover triggers.
Choppiness Index
Measures whether the market is choppy (range-bound) or trending. Ranges 0-100 with configurable thresholds.
DMI
Directional Movement Index with +DI/-DI lines and DX strength. Detects trend direction via DI crossovers and trend strength via DX threshold.
Dynamic Momentum Index
RSI with a dynamically adjusted period based on recent volatility — more volatile markets get shorter lookback for faster response.
Fisher Transform
Ehlers' Fisher Transform normalizes price into a Gaussian distribution, creating sharp turning points. Signal line is the previous bar's Fisher value.
Ichimoku Cloud
Complete Ichimoku Cloud trading system providing trend direction (Tenkan/Kijun cross), support/resistance (Senkou A/B cloud), and momentum confirmation (Chikou Span). Price above cloud is bullish; below is bearish. Use as an all-in-one trend framework for directional bias and entry timing.
KST (Know Sure Thing)
Martin Pring's summed rate of change oscillator. Combines four smoothed ROC values with ascending weights to identify major trend reversals. Signal line crossovers and zero-line crosses confirm momentum shifts.
Momentum Divergence
RSI-based divergence detector comparing price swing highs/lows with RSI to identify regular and hidden divergences signaling potential reversals.
Parabolic SAR
Wilder's Parabolic Stop and Reverse placing trailing dots above price in downtrends and below in uptrends, accelerating as the trend progresses. A flip from above to below signals a bullish reversal, and vice versa. Use as a trailing stop mechanism or trend-flip entry trigger.
Price Oscillator
Percentage Price Oscillator — shows the percentage difference between fast and slow EMAs. Includes signal line (EMA of PO) and histogram (PO minus signal). Similar to MACD in percentage form.
QQE
Qualitative Quantitative Estimation — RSI smoothed by EMA with dynamic trailing bands derived from ATR-like smoothing. QQE line crossing zero or trailing level signals trend shifts.
RMI
Relative Momentum Index — RSI variant that compares close[i] vs close[i - momentumPeriod] instead of close[i] vs close[i-1]. Smoother than RSI, ranges 0-100.
Supertrend
ATR-based trend-following indicator that flips between support (below price in uptrend) and resistance (above price in downtrend). The flip point serves as both a trend signal and trailing stop level. Use as a trend filter or trailing stop for position management in trending markets.
TRIX Histogram
TRIX = rate of change of a triple-smoothed EMA. Filters noise effectively. Signal line crossover and zero-line cross for trend confirmation.
TTM Squeeze
John Carter's TTM Squeeze — detects low volatility compression (Bollinger inside Keltner). Squeeze fires when bands expand. Momentum histogram shows breakout direction.
Vortex Indicator
Vortex Indicator measuring positive (VI+) and negative (VI-) trend movement using true range ratios. VI+ crossing above VI- signals bullish trend; the reverse signals bearish. Use as a trend direction filter or crossover entry trigger, especially effective for detecting trend changes early.
WaveTrend
LazyBear WaveTrend oscillator — WT1/WT2 crossover system with overbought/oversold zones. WT1 crossing above WT2 in oversold territory is a strong buy signal; crossing below in overbought territory is a strong sell signal.
Williams MFI
Bill Williams' Market Facilitation Index -- (high-low)/volume. Classifies bars as Green (both up), Fade (both down), Fake (MFI up, vol down), Squat (MFI down, vol up).
